PATCH NOTES

Welcome!

Here are the patch notes for the upcoming wipe.

With reservation for errors, changes and missed information.

LOOT ECONOMY

To start us off, the biggest change with this wipe is the entire re-work of the loot economy on all maps. Focus has been on prolonging the gameplay, making higher tiered items more rare and lower tier more balanced. To simply summarize, we have increased lifetime on items from 2-4 hours to 4-8 hours; this means that when an item spawns in on the map, say a magazine or Smersh vest, it will stay for 4 hours until it despawns and go in to circulation again; or if someone picks it up. Previously the lifetime on items was much shorter, resulting in a) loot despawning before players get to loot it, or b) constant in and out spawning thus creating an inflation of some items. 

Backpacks and some items are now up to 8 hours lifetime, with most items being 4 hours minimum. We based our values from vanilla dayz which is a good blend and a good idea of how to progress the maps – the further in the better loot. But we don’t want 50 AKMs in player’s bases the first weekend – so hopefully now these higher tiered weapons and gear will feel more rare and it will feel thrilling finding these. 

Unlike vanilla, we don’t cap our items – so they will never be locked up and forgotten in someone’s base, so items will spawn and they do exist, even if it may take you 1-2 days to find it. 

One thing to keep in mind is that we offer both Care Packages and Survivor Missions as alternatives to looting – these will now feel more rewarding and bring more PVP. 

Regarding dynamic events such as helicrashes – these has suffered a bit for a few wipes, and the reason is simple: there are too many events. Bohemia has gone ahead and added airplane crates, trains, convoys and police situations – all of these together with heli crashes fight over the small amount of dynamic loot that exists. This wipe we lowered the amount of events but kept heli crashes normal (3 at a time) – in theory, should work better. 

It may not be perfect, and probably will not be – but this re-work of loot has given us a better insight in the whole economy and a better foundation to start from with balancing as we go. 

We also carefully balanced the ratio between vanilla / sota / uncuepa and windstride clothing to keep the same ratio of clothes when it comes to how much and where. So instead of having a total of 50 hoodies then an additional 50 shabby hoodies, we balanced it out to have 25 hoodies and 25 shabby hoodies (as an example!).

Regarding where to find specific loot – this will be updated in our Loot Guides during Friday. An announcement will be made once the guides are up to date.

Now on to more summarized patch notes.

GENERAL

Changes affecting all maps / gameplay.

  • Boats have buffed top speed and acceleration.
  • Re-worked SOTA vanilla retexture modpack which is now included in our Northmen Core modpack instead. Removing SOTA from our modlist.
  • Fixed CameraFog for a more crisp POV.
  • New Main Menu video. 
  • Main menu will now save your settings (mute video).
  • Main menu video can now be toggled off entirely for those with low-spec PCs that suffer from crashes. 
  • Re-sized woolgloves, padded gloves and fingerless gloves to match other gloves in size (2:1).
  • Wool Great Coat reduced size and increased inventory size.
  • Karambits now have the same spill-ratio as bayonet when opening canned food.
  • Added more Gorka Helmet variants (ttsko, bdu, woodland).
  • You can now combine fertilizer.
  • Fixed bug where you could use pokemon cards to ignite fires infinitely. 
  • Adjusted lootable chicken coops and hutches on the maps for feather search. 
  • Reduced spawn avoidment for loot economy (from 100m to 50m); just like old dayz.
  • Plastic explosives will now stay for 7 days when placed (for rigging traps).
  • Reduced size of Skull Mask (2:2).
  • Inactive groups will be deleted after 14 days.
  • Temporarily fixed Land_Prison_Side building as it doesn’t spawn any loot on the top floor.
  • Anti-logout TP positions are now more punishable. 
  • Fixed; survivor missions was spawning when restart was 25 minutes away.
  • MMG Fridge was still humming when battery was dead.
  • Re-sized vanilla Shemag to match Windstride’s (2:1).
  • VS89 Mag renamed to SV98.
  • Removed fireplace hitbox. Can no longer be used to glitch in to bases, place / block roads or boost with. 

TERRITORY & BASEBUILDING

  • Firestations are removed from no-build zone; you can now build in firestations. 
  • You can now build without having a flagpole.
  • You can now take over a flagpole without dismantling it first. If a flag is removed or at 0%, you can “claim” and then raise the flag and territory will belong to you. 
  • Removed “change passcode” function on codelocks as it did not work. Everyone that knows the code can still remove the codelock and re-attach it with a new code if you want to change the code.
  • Friendly flagpoles (2:nd base) must now be minimum 121m from the other flagpole. 
  • Fixed simple base christmas tree from deleting loot when transporting.
  • Watchtower roofs now only require 3 metalplates to build (previously 6).

SKINS

  • New: The Pin-up Bundle. Featuring a WW2 inspired camo with classic Pin-ups. Items included 1911, Magnum, MKII, Gun Wall, UMP, MP5K and more.
  • More items can now be ordered custom; 1911, Glock, FNX, MKII, UMP45, MP5K, M14/DMR, Machete, Shemag (vanilla). 
  • Locked skins will now be hidden in-game (easier to navigate among your unlocked / available skins). 
  • New re-skin menu. 
  • Fixed grenades from changing texture when becoming damaged or worse. 
  • Bottlesuppressor can now be skinned (previously only the reinforced one).
  • Firebarrels can NOT be skinned. Attempts at fixing this has failed.

RULES

  • Reworded rule: “Only static vanilla structures/objects can be used to vault up into a base.”
  • Adjusted rules regarding fireplaces due to hitbox being removed solves a few possible rulebreaks related to fireplaces.
  • Clarified raid boosting rules: “ALL BOOSTING/ECO RAIDING IS ALLOWED, including boosting in or out of toe peeks.”

BITTERROOT

  • Balanced Bitterroot weapons and items with the vanilla counter parts.
  • Removed some russian clothing. 
  • Decreased Hero Backpack size from 10×8 to 7×8 (slightly bigger than Alice backpack).
  • Removed Golf Carts. Mod has been deleted from Steam Workshop.
  • Fixed Tisy HQ that was spawning loot on top of an unreachable roof inside Falcon Rock.

CHERNARUS

  • Removed bunker from NWAF.
  • Added an Oilrig in the southwest. Tier 4 gas zone.
  • Fixed Tisy gaszone to have better coverage.
  • Added dynamic gaszones on larger militaries. Random strikes 2 at a time. Dynamic gas will also strike Tisy / Oilrig for esthetic purposes only and to spawn chemgas grenades at the epicenter. 
  • Adjusted no-build zone near Gorka military. 

DEER ISLE

  • Oilrigs are now static gaszones Tier 6 (same value as Alcatraz).
  • You can now spraypaint Deer Isle weapons and attachments in to green / black variants. 
  • Nerfed Wrapped suppressor. Slightly more resiliant than normal suppressors. Size 3:1. 
  • Added some more carwrecks on deer isle to spawn spare parts.
  • Blocked off underground complex at Paris Island due to insufficient loot and purpose.
  • Set up more spawnable types; deer isle weapons will now spawn with more variation attachments. 
  • Re-sized and Re-named a lot of Deer Isle weapons and attachments to match vanilla counter parts. 
  • Added new weapons such as KRP 39, Flintlock pistol, P38, Mauser, Shotguns, Agram, MP5, Gladius Sword, Katana, Witcher Sword, Bean Basher and more.
  • Added “washed up pirate” event in the Archipelago; dynamic skeleton which will spawn the flintlock and ferguson.
  • Increased total boat cap. 
  • Reduced no-build zone around Crater.

SAKHAL

  • Added Oilrig, Tier 4 gaszone in the northern sea.
  • Added castle on the northern island. 
  • Added small prison building near Cerna Mys.
  • Lootpresets now include more winter clothing. 
  • Adjusted Bushlat Jacket item size and inventory size. 
  • Skigloves, Skigoggles have been reduced in size to match similar items. 
  • White NBC clothes will now spawn in Dynamic Containers. 

OTHER

  • Deer Isle US and Livonia EU launch.
  • Bitterroot EU and Sakhal US will close. 
  • New Merch Shop Launched. 
  • Clantags have been re-worked to give player own re-color permissions per wipe. Group persistance removed. 
  • Updated our internal database to automate 90% of our shop. Only Custom items will need manual processing – all other purchases are handled automatically and will be added within 5 minutes to our servers. Some items require restart to take effect, others work instantly.
  • Discord BOT’s restart time will be updated during the day. 
  • New Wipe Challenges and Pokemon challenges will be published during the weekend. 
  • Ongoing work on updating our Discord information (loot guides, rules, other). 
  • Pokemon Equipment locker will be fixed (backside currently upside-down).
  • Spring-cleaned our mods; better configs, less corruptions and conflicts for a better performance.
